Free codes
Is the generator really free?
Yes. Static codes are free, with no sign-up and no watermark, and there is no limit on how many you make or how often they are scanned. You pay only for dynamic codes, the kind you can change after printing.
Do free QR codes expire?
No. A static code works for as long as the page it points to exists.
Do you see what I put in a free code?
No. The generator runs in your browser, and the content of a static code never reaches our servers. That includes Wi-Fi passwords.
Which file should I give my printer?
The SVG. If a printer asks for an image instead, use the 2048 px PNG.
How big should I print a code?
At least 2 cm (0.8 in) wide for anything held in the hand. For signs and posters, make the code about a tenth of the distance it is scanned from: 18 cm (7 in) for 1.8 m (6 ft).
Dynamic codes and packs
What is a dynamic QR code?
A code that holds a short link instead of your content. You can change where it leads after printing, and we count the scans.
Is it really a one-time payment?
Yes. There is no subscription, nothing renews, and no code is switched off for not paying again.
What does a printed code look like?
On the Single and Starter packs, gtdqr.com/abc2345. With your own domain, whatever you choose, such as qr.yourbrand.com/menu.
What happens when I delete a code?
Its printed copies stop working, and you can create a new code in its place. If you might need it again, pause it instead.
Can I buy more codes later?
Yes. Packs add up: two Starter packs give you room for 6 codes.
Can I move a printed code from gtdqr.com to my own domain?
No. The address is part of the printed pattern. New codes can go on your domain as soon as it is connected.
Your own domain
Why put codes on my own domain?
Because the printed address then belongs to you. If you leave us, or we close, you point the domain somewhere else and the printed codes keep working. And if our shared domain is ever flagged because of someone else's code, codes on your domain are not affected.
How do I connect a domain?
Pick a subdomain such as qr.yourbrand.com and add one CNAME record at your DNS provider. We get the security certificate, and the Domains page shows when the domain is live. That often takes minutes, sometimes a few hours.
Can I use my main domain, like yourbrand.com?
No, only a subdomain. That way your website and email keep working exactly as they do now.
If we close
What happens to my codes if Guaranteed QR shuts down?
We will email you at least 90 days ahead and send a final exit kit. Codes on your own domain (Pro and Business) keep working once you put the kit on any web host and change one DNS record. Codes on gtdqr.com keep forwarding to their last destination for at least 5 years after we close.
What is in the exit kit?
A list of your codes as a spreadsheet (CSV) and as JSON, a small ready-to-host website for each of your domains that does the same redirects we do, a ready-to-deploy Cloudflare Worker, and step-by-step instructions. You can download it any time from your account, and we email it every month unless you turn that off.
Statistics and privacy
What do scan statistics show?
Scans per day, by country and by device type. Daily detail is kept for 90 days, and the total for as long as the code exists. Link previews and bots are not counted.
Do you track the people who scan my codes?
No. For each scan we record the time, the country, the device type and the operating system. We keep no IP address and set no cookie. To avoid counting one phone twice, a keyed hash of the connection address is held for 10 seconds.
Safety
Do you check where codes lead?
Yes. Every web destination is checked against Google Web Risk when it is saved and re-checked daily, then weekly. A destination listed as phishing or malware is refused, or blocked if it turns bad later, and the owner is emailed.
How do I report a malicious code?
Use the report form at guaranteedqr.com/report, or write to abuse@guaranteedqr.com with the address the code opened. We review every report, and harmful codes are switched off.
Payments and refunds
Who handles the payment?
Polar, our merchant of record. Polar takes the card payment, charges any sales tax or VAT and sends the receipt. Card details never reach us.
Can I get a refund?
Yes, for a whole pack within 14 days of purchase. If that leaves you with more codes than your remaining packs allow, the newest codes are paused.
Do prices include tax?
Prices are in US dollars. Buyers in the US, Canada and India pay any sales tax on top. Elsewhere the price includes any VAT or GST.
